Upgrade the VRS Professional on your Fujitsu Scanners
Tuesday, March 12th, 2013Windows 7 scanner compatibilty
Saturday, February 16th, 2013We found some scanner manufactures are telling consumers that certain discontinued SCSI based model scanners are not windows 7 compliant and they need to upgrade. We have found through some testing that the statement is not entirely true. Some models will operate with an adaptec SCSI card and under windows 7, 32 bit architecture. 64 bit is not available but not always necessary, so before you spend a fortune to upgrade your older model scanner for no reason other than to get win 7 compliant, check with us and we will give you the real scoop.

Growing in Chaos
Monday, April 30th, 2012One thing that I have always embraced is that when things are in turmoil can be the absolute best time to push against the tide and grow. In an ever changing scanner hardware market, we have continued to aggressively invest in reconditioning and re-certifying quality mid and high volume scanners and package them with a versatile cost effective service and support offering that fits the clients needs and have seen first hand the positive results.
Many large scanning capture users are looking for lowering the cost of maintaining and replacing equipment, and great deals are being made by savvy buyers who are saving their companies a small fortune by embracing in this philosophy. Same holds true for smaller companies. Great deals are out there to be made.
It’s my belief that this is the stuff that American businesses are made of- Perseverance!
Is it a good deal?
Friday, January 20th, 2012Is it a good deal when your offered to buy a 150ppm scanner at a low price like $9k, but ONLY if you take a full price $7k annual service contract with it?
The answer is NO! The scanner is not actually $9k, its $16k so no longer a great deal. Be careful when buying scanners listed direct from the manufacturer as the scanner price looks great until the tell you a full priced maintenance contract is also necessary to get that scanner at the low price…

Truth about Equipment Brokers
Wednesday, March 16th, 2011I just received an e-mail from an equipment broker listing their “Current Inventory”. The list included manufacturer, model, quantity and condition, but no price. Upon further inspection I noticed this list included a lot of the inventory we actually own and have listed on our Scanner Traders website with even the same quantity levels, clearly not by coincidence.
That’s what equipment brokers do, they list every pre-owned scanner they find offered on our site or hear about from their customers. Sometimes they just list items they know are in high demand and wait for an inquiry before even trying to locate one. It’s frustrating to a business like ours, because they use these lists to make their customers believe they actually own these scanners or are at least in possession of them when in reality they at best only know where to find them.
I noticed on this particular list there were few prices, mostly “Call for Pricing”, “Call for details” or “Make an offer”, which wasn’t surprising since they don’t actually own the equipment, or even see it before it arrives at your office. They only know what the seller tells them in terms of the scanners condition, and maybe some pictures. Brokers have no idea what their final cost will be, so they typically avoid specifying prices as they add their markup and “handling” fee to their costs, which is usually up to 35%. Not a bad deal for making a few calls, collecting a check and arranging some shipping.
A brokers’ success, is much like a magicians, it’s dependent upon an illusion that they create, illusions like these “inventory lists” that they e-mail out weekly or monthly. Next time you work with a broker, ask to visit their warehouse or for the serial numbers of the scanners you are interested in, and scan counts, or pictures while speaking with them. If they own their equipment they will have that on an internal list, if they have to call you back, most likely they are calling us or someone else to get that information.
Brokers do typically deliver equipment as requested, but it’s the customer that takes all the risk while paying a premium for a scanner they could have purchased directly from a company that actually owns it. Next time you are interested in a pre-owned scanner, cut out the middle man, and deal with a company that actually owns the equipment they are selling.

High Speed document scanner market declining
Tuesday, June 1st, 2010How many years in a row have we heard it from the experts? Well it is true, that market is in decline, but it apprently is not dying, just changing.
I guess we would need to agree on what a “High Speed” scanner is, as that seems to be a moving target. Lets say for all intents and purpose its 130 pages per minute plus.
Kodak is spending a great deal of time and effort to revamp their offerings in this space. Purchasing B&H and their Ngenuity model line, and introducing the i4000 series.
Fujitsu who has traditionally not been a player in this space recently introduced a 130ppm scanner called the 6800 and has rumored to have plans to introduce a 150ppm scanner in the near future.
Hitachi has released their first scanner in the USA and it is a 150ppm scanner that offers a unique dual pocket set up that is usually found on only 200ppm+ models like IBML.
All of the above are signs this market is still in demand and the major players want to grab their share. Dont send flowers to the high end scanner market just yet…

During September and October we will be offering a *FREE 16 GB Apple iPad with the purchase of any pre-owned 100 ppm+ scanner with minimum one year service contract from Imaging 411.
We are now a certified e-commerce website (
